Pulpotomy of Permanent Teeth with Georg Benjamin
Pulpotomy in permanent teeth is becoming an increasingly valuable treatment option, allowing clinicians to preserve pulp vitality and maintain natural tooth structure even in challenging clinical situations. However, for many dentists, integrating vital pulp therapy into everyday practice still raises important questions: when to choose pulpotomy, how to assess pulp status, how to manage bleeding, and how to achieve predictable long-term outcomes.
This practical workshop with Georg Benjamin presents pulpotomy as a biologically driven, predictable, and clinically applicable approach to tooth preservation. The focus goes beyond the procedure itself and explores the entire decision-making process – from deep caries diagnosis and treatment planning to isolation, pulp assessment, material selection, and definitive restoration.
Through real clinical cases, participants will learn how to identify suitable cases for pulpotomy, manage challenging situations, and develop a structured workflow that can be directly implemented in daily clinical practice.

14:00 – 15:30 THEORY PART I
This session focuses on clinical cases involving deep carious lesions, pulp exposure, and symptoms traditionally associated with irreversible pulpitis. Participants will explore how to evaluate cases before treatment, determine when to stop caries excavation, assess restorability, manage pulp exposure, and decide when vital pulp therapy is the most appropriate option.
Scientific evidence, biological principles, and current recommendations are integrated directly into the discussion of real clinical situations. Rubber dam isolation is introduced as an essential part of a predictable workflow, especially in challenging cases.

16:00 – 17:30 THEORY PART II
This session follows the complete pulpotomy workflow step by step – from pulp exposure and tissue assessment to haemostasis, application of calcium silicate-based materials, and definitive coronal sealing.
Special attention is given to common clinical challenges, including deep proximal caries, subgingival margins, difficult isolation, insufficient haemostasis, compromised teeth, postoperative symptoms, failure management, and follow-up strategies.

18:00 – 20:00 LIVE DEMO & PRACTICAL SESSION
The session will begin with a live demonstration of the clinical workflow, including rubber dam isolation, management of pulp exposure, bleeding control, placement of calcium silicate-based materials, and restorative sealing. Following the demonstration, participants will have the opportunity to handle and apply a calcium silicate-based material on a model.
